- A child who started defending children rights activities at 10 years old when she refused to marry at that age when she lost her same age aunt “mother’s sister” who burned herself and committed suicide. After a while, her sister tried to commit suicide for same reason when she was forced to marry although she was not recovered from her burns. - When the turn came on Nada, She escaped the day of her wedding to another city and videotaped herself asking for help and begs for not getting her married. The video was widely spread and got big global support with 8 million views in 3 days. The video also was translated by supporters to 30 different languages worldwide and them there has been big media coverage in the globe. Her story was written in French for the first time and was published in a book which was lately translated into several languages. After saving herself and become legally under her uncle care , she took a pledge to continue her straggle to safe as many children as possible.

  • Honorary president of Nada Foundation for child rights protection.
  • She is a children rights activist defending children in local and international forums, conducting community awareness on the importance of giving the child his rights and warning of the consequences of violating them.
  • She has led several humanitarian media campaigns.
  • A participant in international conferences to convey children issues and the huge violations on children rights to the world.

 

What are the Violations that Nada encountered?                            

 

  • She was held in person by ministry of interior affairs in 2013 for 10 days because of the disturbance that some higher parties in national dialogue felt as a result to her affect on national dialog sessions by demanding prevention of under-age females. After this incident and as a result to Nada fighting the ministry of interior affairs issues a law that prevent marriage of under 18 female children.

 

  • After coming back from a TV interview talking about her story outside Yemen, she was held in the airport and her passport was taken in addition to depraving her from traveling outside the country until she could travel recently after war and live outside her country until now.

 

  • She was detained in ministry of interior affairs for 7 hours and forcibly sign a paper that prevent her from showing on media and travelling outside the country.

 

  • She was kidnapped by Al-Qada for 14 days after arriving Aden, trying to prevent her from travelling to attend her book launching ceremony in France and traveling to Switzerland to receive a Prize.

 

 

What accomplishments she has achieved?

 

  • Established (Nada Foundation for child rights protection)

 

  • Participated in children rights international conferences and conveyed children case to the world.

 

  • Participated in Oskar nominated movie (I am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced)

 

  • Launched creative video series on YouTube talking about children military recruitment dangers, education situation in her country, under-age marriage and the importance of maintaining children rights.

 

  • MBC ( the most Arab viewed TV channel) has produced a documentary movie talking about her story.

 

  • Authored a book in French entitled (NADA AL-AHDAL) and was translated into several languages.
